Jonathon’s Magical Birthday Weekend

IMG_1586Here at our house, you don’t just get to celebrate your birthday for one day – you get a whole weekend.

It’s called the
Magical Birthday Weekend.

Jonathon turned 12 on Monday, March 23rd - and boy what a weekend. The celebration started on Thursday when Grandma and Grandpa came to visit from Florida for a few days.

On Saturday we took him shopping for a new suit and to dinner at the Macaroni Grill – because he loves their pizza. (Wish I had a picture of Jonathon in his suit here – I will try to insert one later)

On Sunday we blessed Jack. It was Lauer day at church, because Jonathon was presented his Faith in God Award, Steve had to talk during Sacrament Meeting, and Thomas had to give a talk during Primary.

Grammy and Grampy showed up on Sunday afternoon and we made a turkey dinner for everyone.

I only have pictures of everyone holding Jack and no pictures of Jonathon. I have become a slacker in the picture taking department. I didn’t even take any pictures, these are all from Granma’s camera.

The kids were out of school on Monday, so that was a Bonus Birthday Present for him. Except that the weather was not very nice so we couldn’t really play outside. We took the whole family to the bowling alley for some fun & games and of course lunch.

We got to witness some historic sporting by Grammy, Grampy and Grandma Lauer. Grandpa Lauer broke his ankle a while ago, and was not sure if he should bowl. We only made it to the bowling alley with one camera but the flash was not working properly and the lighting was not good. So we don’t have any pictures to document the old people bowling.

We came home, and finished off the day with a
Hot Fudge Brownie Sunday Cake.

I’m sure that I will always say this, but I can’t believe that it has been 12 years since we brought our first little guy into the world. He is such a great helper around the house, and especially with Henry. He has a great sense of humor, but is extremely gullible. He talks way too much – kind of reminds me of myself at his age. He loves to read, enjoys school and hanging out with his friends. And, if you didn’t know it already, he loves playing video games – Wii, XBOX, NintendoDS, computer – he loves them all. He also reminded us serveral times this weekend that, “I am 12 now – I’m a grown up.”

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JONATHON!

The Sweet Things

I got this idea from my friend Jessica.

This is a list of a few things I enjoy

Mostly it’s just things that I craved during my pregnancy,
but some of them are not food related.

First on the list is the program that I am using right now

Live Writer

If you hate the using blogger to compose your posts – like I do, it would be a good idea to download this free program (Here). I used to fight right and left with blogger to get things to look the way I wanted, with Writer I don’t even have to stress. Each time I use it, I find something new and amazing that I can do.

shark steam mop

This has been a huge time saver for me. Mostly because Thomas thinks it’s the best toy in the world. So I don’t even have to do any of the work. It’s a SHARK steam mop. Safe on both our tile and hardwood floors. (Click picture for a link)

We enjoy many varieties of fruit in our house, but when it comes to my personal favorites, I have to give a shout out to DOLE.

Peaches Fruit Gels Fruit Parfaits

I’m a fan of the peaches. In a plastic jar, or peaches in strawberry gel, or peaches and cream parfaits – all good.

I stopped eating oatmeal a long time ago, because it’s so easy to fix a bowl of cereal for breakfast. Now, however, I have discovered Simple Harvest Oatmeal – maple brown sugar with pecans.

oatmeal 2

This is great on it’s own, but the other night I added peaches and served it up with a side of cinnamon toast – delish!

(Yes, I had oatmeal and toast for dinner)

La Brea

I love all of the types of La Brea Bread that the grocery store stocks, but I really like the kind that is frozen. I just keep the little baguettes in the freezer and throw one in the toaster oven while I heat up a lovely bowl of soup.

Moonlight Path bath and body Wild Honeysuckle

Antibacterial hand soap, body wash, lotion . . .
My faves are Moonlight Path and Wild Honeysuckle.

Wonder Tee

Down East</

If it weren’t for Down East Basics, I wouldn’t be able to get dressed each day. I even wore these shirts when I was so hugely pregnant – very stretchy.

 mangos

You can get a big bag of these at Costco – I can eat these Dried Mangoes until I’m sick and then still want more – very addicting.

This is one of my favorite pictures. When I need something to make me laugh – I pull this one up. One day I was trying to get a good picture of Henry and he didn’t want to sit still anymore, so he crawled under his bed to get away from me.

Almost 3 Weeks

We have not done a whole lot the past couple of weeks. So far Jack has made 2 trips to the doctor, 3 trips to the grocery store and we took him to church on Sunday. Oh, and we did drag him all the way to Park City last Saturday, because we were craving Cafe Rio.

He is still quite yellow – he looks like he’s been tanning. I didn’t want to take pictures of him until the yellow went away, but I’m afraid that he might be yellow forever – so I took pictures anyway.

DSC07811He has not made it back to his birth weight yet, so we are trying to fatten him up. Hopefully we can get rid of the yellow soon too. He is a pretty happy baby, and doesn’t really cause much trouble. Too bad the same can’t be said for his older brother.

Speaking of the rambunctious little boy - Every time I get the camera out, Henry pitches a fit if I don’t snap a picture of him too. So here he is telling me that he is 1 year old.
